PT Excelcomindo Pratama Tbk. ("XL" or the "Company") was established on October 6, 1989 under the name PT Grahametropolitan Lester engaged in trading and general services.

In 1995, along with cooperation between the Rajawali Group - a shareholder - with a few foreign investors (NYNEX, AIF and Mitsui), PT Grahametropolitan Lestari change its name to PT Excelcomindo Pratama with its main activities as providers of basic telephony services.

We began commercial operations on 8 October 1996, providing basic telephony services using GSM 900 technology.
In the process, we also granted to Network Cellular DCS 1800 technology, Permit Closed Fixed Network, Internet Service Operation Permit (Internet Services Protocol / ISP) and Internet Telephony Services Implementation License for Public Needs (Voice over Internet Protocol / VoIP) . In 2006, we obtained a Permit Implementation Cell for 3G technology and its commercial launch in September 2006.

To date, we have established more than 13,000 Base Transceiver Station (BTS) in Indonesia to serve 22 million customers. And we are committed to continuously improving the quality and coverage area of cell in the future, for the communication needs of our customers can always go anytime, anywhere.

To provide the best service and support to its customers until the first quarter of 2007 has been available for more than 156 outlets across Indonesia XL Center, supported by the Contact Center services who are always ready to provide information to customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In 2006, we formally obtain a 3G license, and in addition held an innovative 3G services, our customers increasingly spoiled by the presence of support for Video Contact Centers, service-based customer support 3G technology.
